Leo Willliam Zahner, Jr., of Olathe, Kansas, died November 15, 2007. He is featured in the "Tribute" column found with the newspaper's obituaries. He was the third generation of his family to run A. Zahner Sheet Metal Company. "He was the one who took a small maker of ornamental metalwork and made it a factor in some of the nation's highest-profile architecture." The company was founded by Andrew Zahner in 1871. In recent years "it crafted the Sky Stations atop Bartle Hall, the aqua-tinted siding on the new Kansas City Star press building, the metal inside and outside the new addition to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and the wheat sculpture that adorns the Kansas City Board of Trade."
