Local writer Matt Fraction is launching a comic book series called "The Invincible Iron Man" to coincide with the release of the movie "Iron Man." Fraction is one of what he estimates to be over a dozen working comic creators in the Kansas City area. During Fraction's career, he co-founded in 2000 the Kansas City-based MK112 Studios "which earned a national reputation for providing animation and special effects for such Hollywood films as 'Stranger Than Fiction' starring Will Ferrell." Other Kansas City area comic writers and illustrators listed with the article include: Jason Aaron, writer; Hector Casanova, artist; Nathan Fox, artist; B. Clay Moore, writer; Tony Moore, artist; Jai Nitz, writer; Ande Parks, artist/writer; Seth Peck, writer; Steven Sanders, artist; Harold Sipe, writer; and Freddie Williams, artist.

This collection consists of a complete 12-issue comic book series, "The Kents," published by DC Comics from 1997-1998. The story follows members of the fictional Kent family (Superman's adoptive ancestors) in Kansas between 1854 and the 1870s, as they encounter significant individuals and events of the time period.
