Frank and Ardis Glenn and the Glenn Bookshop
-
Description
-
Article on Frank and Ardis Glenn and their antique and rare book business, the Glenn Bookshop. Frank joined the publishing business in 1924, and after managing a rare book department and developing a number of valuable professional contacts, he opened Frank Glenn Books in 1933 at 312 Ward Parkway. The business became a success, and to help keep up with his correspondence, Frank hired a secretary named Adris Couchman, whom he soon married. The Glenns worked with many book collectors, including Thomas Jefferson Fitzpatrick of Lincoln, Nebraska. Ardis took over the shop after Frank's death in 1960, selling it in 1987 to friends Fred and Carolyn Gilhousen.
