Obituary for Harold Neal

Description

Neal died November 11, 2004 in Independence. Originally from Canada, he was active in orchestras and choirs. From 1953-1966 he taught at Graceland College and directed the orchestra, band, and chapel choir; from 1969 to 1981 he served as music director the RLDS church at its headquarters in Independence. Among his many various musical associations and conducting responsibilities, he founded the annual Harry Truman Concerts and the Jacomo Chorale, and served on the board of the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra.

Description

Thomas Jefferson Fitzpatrick was a professor of botany and mathematics, a librarian, and an avid book collector. The Kansas City Public Library purchased nearly 20,000 volumes from his private library in 1953. The books were not maintained as a collection. Along with the books were personal papers including diaries, a scrapbook, and numerous newspaper clippings.
