The author states that Kansas City Police facilities are usually named for their geographic location, but that Councilman Jermaine Reed recommended a compromise in which the entire campus would be named after Jordan but the station itself still being known as East Patrol.

Profile on Janna Eikel, a detective who served in the Kansas City Police Department from 1984 until her retirement in 2013. Eikel worked in the vice unit and as a detective in forgery and robbery before moving to the sex crimes unit, where she "crafted herself a role as the department's first cold case investigator," taking advantage of recent developments in DNA technology. Her success in the position led to the creation of a department cold case squad as well as the establishment of the Jackson County Prosecutor's office cold case unit.
