Kansas City native and premier industrial and commercial developer, Barney Karbank, died January 16, 2005. He was chairman of B. A. Karbank & Co. and developed more than 100 properties. The company controls more than 5 million square feet of industrial and commercial space in this area. "Barney Karbank left his mark on almost every major industrial park in the area. He also assembled a major portion of the land for the Truman Sports Complex and undertook land assemblages for other clients, including sites for the area's first cellular phone system." He served on numerous boards for professional organizations as well as many civic and charitable organizations.

James Ford was a doctor, pharmacist, and real estate developer in the early years of Kansas City, Missouri. His collection of papers which date from 1879-1885 is contained in five folders. Contents include a partial printed genealogy, deeds and other legal documents, tax receipts, correspondence, a map, and miscellaneous items. The tax receipts in the collection are for both Kansas City, Missouri; Jackson County, Missouri; and Wyandotte County, Kansas. The correspondence is limited and deals primarily with business and legal matters. The map is undated and is of Kansas City, Missouri.

Victor Regnier (1918-2000) Commercial Developer

Short article about Johnson County, Kansas, commercial developer Victor Regnier. He developed Leawood's Ranch Mart Shopping Center at 95th Street and Mission Road in the late 1950s. He began building homes in Johnson County in the 1940s and bought farmland in the southern part of the county before it became popular. Regnier was born in Arkansas and married Helen Benning in the 1940s.
