Photo (of the Walter Dickey mansion, an annex of the college at its dedication) and article about the 50th anniversary celebration of the 1933 dedication of the University of Kansas City. History of the university, originating in the early 1900s with money-raising efforts and starting to come together with the 1930 combination of resources by "the Lincoln and Lee campaign, and a Chamber of Commerce-sponsored campaign," with donations in 1931 from William Volker of "50 acres southeast of the Country Club Plaza" including the Walter Dickey estate. Later events described including the absorption of the Kansas City School of Law in 1938, the Kansas City-Western Dental College in 1941, and the Kansas City College of Pharmacy in 1943, with expansions in the 1950s-1960s including the absorption of the Conservatory of Music in 1959 and beginning of its radio station KCUR-FM in 1957 before being absorbed itself and renamed in 1963 as the University of Missouri-Kansas City for largely financial reasons.
