Information about Watts Mill and Cogswell Tavern provided in the 6th and 7th items of the roll of microfilm, along with photo and description of William Cogswell (1793-1866), his wife Fanny Ann Cogswell (1793-1858), and their tavern built as a storage place near Sibley in 1855 after building a landing on their arrival to the area in 1844, traded to J. P. Matthews. Information also about the Fitzhugh family from 1827 to 1850, starting with John Fitzhugh, an early Jackson County judge buying a lot in Independence in 1827 and building a mill about 1832 later called Watts Mill.

This collection contains 11 black and white mounted display photographs measuring 14" x 16" and housed in one box. The award-winning photographs were taken by Elbert Landfried. They show both artistic merit as well as historical significance. Subjects include Union Station, the West Bottoms, Vaile Mansion, Truman home and Truman Library in Independence, Missouri, a portrait of the artist Thomas Hart Benton, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Liberty Memorial. Collection also contains 17, 35mm, b&w negatives of Watts Mill and the Missouri River area at Sugar Creek, Missouri. Accession #1994-37, gift of Mr. Landfried. Processed: 1994.
