Also found in Appendix C is a roster of Kansas City's black teams. Includes numerous photographs.

J.L. Wilkinson is to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. on July 30, 2006. Article details Wilkinson's contributions to baseball. "He was the only white owner when he co-founded the Negro National League in 1920, introduced night baseball five years before the major leagues and signed Jackie Robinson to his first professional contract." He used gimmicks as mascots and musical groups to try and draw crowds and "is considered by many the father of baseball's globalization". Wilkinson's history is given as well as a listing named "Monarchs Players to Be Honored Today" and "Monarchs Already in the Hall".

Steve Penn in his "Commentary" column raises the name of J. L. Wilkinson, owner of the Kansas City Monarchs, to be put in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He highlights the fact that in 1909 Wilkinson started the first women's baseball team, he formed the Monarchs and led them to success including signing Jackie Robinson to the team as well as Buck O'Neil, and his innovation of night baseball.
