Steve Penn in his "Commentary" column raises the name of J. L. Wilkinson, owner of the Kansas City Monarchs, to be put in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He highlights the fact that in 1909 Wilkinson started the first women's baseball team, he formed the Monarchs and led them to success including signing Jackie Robinson to the team as well as Buck O'Neil, and his innovation of night baseball.
