Portrait of John Owen Beauchamp, Jr., a Private First Class in the U.S. Army. Beauchamp was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 25, 1923. He attended Southwest High School and enlisted in the Army Air Corps on May 13, 1943. In February 1945, he was sent to Germany and killed in action an April 16, 1945. The Silver Star was presented to his wife, Gene Beauchamp.

Portrait of Giles J. Smith, Jr., a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Marines. Giles, also known as Jim, was born on March 9, 1921, in Kansas City, Missouri. Giles, a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity while at the University of Missouri, received his commission as a fighter pilot on June 26, 1943. He married Verdella Rothband on June 29, 1943, and in October was sent to the southwest Pacific. He was killed in action on May 1, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal.

Portrait of Charles V. Teaney who entered the service on March 26, 1943. Teaney was born on November 1, 1924, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was educated in Kansas City, Missouri, and participated in numerous school activities. After his military training, Teaney was stationed in Europe and was killed in action on January 16, 1945, in Linz, Germany.

Henry Boshell

Portrait of Henry Boshell, a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. Boshell, also known as Bud, was born July 31, 1921. He attended the Greenwood School and Central High School in Kansas City, graduating in 1938. After graduation, Boshell entered a one year Army training program and eventually left for Goose Bay in Labrador on April 9, 1944, from Tampa, Florida. It was during this trip that his plane, a B-17, went down in a severe storm.
