Portrait of Captain Floyd Edwin Wilhelm who was born October 7, 1922, in Jonesboro, Illinois, son of William and Alice Wilhelm. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II for more than four years and carried out Berlin Airlift missions, attached to the 317th Troop Carrier Wing. He served nine months in the Korean War. He was the first pilot in charge of an R. B. 45 to fly a non-stop jet from San Francisco to Japan unescorted, making the trip in September 1951. He lost his life October 20, 1952, while giving jet training, leaving a wife Delilah and five children.

Portrait of Joseph Hartwell McPeek. He was born on September 5, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles and Ada McPeek. He attended East High School and entered the service March 3, 1943. He was with Patton's 3rd Army, driving cars and jeeps for the military. He was injured while driving a jeep pursuing German soldiers, dying June 14, 1945. Services were held in Kansas City on December 4, 1948, and he is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Whipple, 4538 Warwick Boulevard where a military musical sponsored by the Kansas City Chapter of the DAR was held on June 9. It was to benefit Battery D. The cadet corp of Westport High School did a military drill and may be the individuals shown in this image.

Whipple, 4538 Warwick Boulevard, where a military musical sponsored by the Kansas City Chapter of the DAR was held on June 9, 1917. It was to benefit Battery D who later became Battery A. Onlookers are included in the view. The cadet corp from Westport High School performed at event.

Portrait of Lt. Gilbert L. Worley, Jr., a flyer in the United States Army. He was born in Topeka, Kansas, April 12, 1920. He graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and from Kansas University in 1941 where he started his flying courses. His training was completed at Ong Field and he was qualified as a navigator and ground school instructor. In 1942 he completed his training to become an Army flyer. He was killed in an airplane accident on a flight to Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 15, 1943.

Seated portrait identified as "Lieutenant Colonel in the World's great war of 1917-18." Identified as "the first Captain of Battery A" which was part of the 129th Field Artillery. According to information on page nine of the scrapbook, Marvin H. Gates was the first captain.
