Portrait of William P. Wilbur, a Lieutenant in the U. S. Army. Wilbur was born on September 10, 1917, in Miami, Florida, and in 1928, his family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. In February 1941, Wilbur enlisted in the U. S. Army and he died on July 27, 1943, while in combat at the Rendova Island during the campaign for the capture of the Munda Air Field.

Portrait of Captain Floyd Edwin Wilhelm who was born October 7, 1922, in Jonesboro, Illinois, son of William and Alice Wilhelm. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II for more than four years and carried out Berlin Airlift missions, attached to the 317th Troop Carrier Wing. He served nine months in the Korean War. He was the first pilot in charge of an R. B. 45 to fly a non-stop jet from San Francisco to Japan unescorted, making the trip in September 1951. He lost his life October 20, 1952, while giving jet training, leaving a wife Delilah and five children.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941, and was commissioned a bomber pilot in 1942. He was killed in a collision of two bombers on September 24, 1942, while training in Arizona.

He attended Officer's Training School in July 1942, and was married to Marian Smith on December 9, 1942. He was sent to Germany and died while in battle at a German outpost on April 6, 1945.

Giles, a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity while at the University of Missouri, received his commission as a fighter pilot on June 26, 1943. He married Verdella Rothband on June 29, 1943, and in October was sent to the southwest Pacific. He was killed in action on May 1, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal.

He was awarded the Air Medal, one silver and three bronze oakleaf clusters, six bronze stars, and the Purple Heart.

Portrait of Joseph Hartwell McPeek. He was born on September 5, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles and Ada McPeek. He attended East High School and entered the service March 3, 1943. He was with Patton's 3rd Army, driving cars and jeeps for the military. He was injured while driving a jeep pursuing German soldiers, dying June 14, 1945. Services were held in Kansas City on December 4, 1948, and he is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery.

His family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1923, and he attended Paseo High School and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He enlisted on February 2, 1942, and was trained as a Torpedo Bomber Pilot. He was wounded while over Hong Kong on January 16, 1945, and died in the Ofuna Prison Camp in Japan on January 26, 1945. He was awarded the Navy Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross, the Gold Star, and four Air Medals.

Portrait of Clifford D. Williams, Jr., a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Williams was born on January 21, 1918, in Kansas City, Missouri, and attended East High School. He enlisted on October 14, 1942, and in December of 1943, was sent to Italy for combat. On February 25, 1944, his plane was attacked by German fighters and was shot down. He was one of six men that were not able to escape the plane and died. He was awarded the Air Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster, a Presidential Citation, the European Theatre Ribbon with four Battle Stars, the Purple Heart, a Good Conduct Ribbon, and a Victory Medal.

In December of 1943, he was sent to Italy after receiving his assignment as a Tail Gunman on a liberation bomber. He was reported MIA while over Austria on May 30, 1944, and it was later confirmed that he was killed in action. He was awarded an Air Medal, a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Purple Heart.

His training was completed at Ong Field and he was qualified as a navigator and ground school instructor. In 1942 he completed his training to become an Army flyer. He was killed in an airplane accident on a flight to Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 15, 1943.

Portrait of Charles O. Rogers, a Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class in the U. S. Coast Guard. Rogers was born on December 14, 1907, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Mr. and Mrs. William H. Rogers. The Rogers family moved to Kansas City in 1909. Rogers was married to Rose Gerig Krumps on October 20, 1933, and enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard on April 29, 1942. He died on August 29, 1944, while in route to his Coast Guard boat in New Orleans after being struck by a civilian vehicle.
