The construction began on the original section of building in May 1904, and it was opened and consecrated in 1907. An addition was added in 1912. The building was still home to the same church at the time of the photo, but the shrinking congregation voted to disband in July 1995.

Photograph of the Saint Luke's A.M.E. Church cornerstone, in a triangle created by the intersections of the corner of 43rd Street, Archibald Avenue and Roanoke Streets in the early 1980s. The stone records the date of the church's construction as 1882. The church was established for freed slaves in Kansas City's Steptoe neighborhood after the Civil War, and the parsonage at the rear of the property was added in 1891. The buildings were razed in July 2003 due to deterioration and the widening of 43rd Street. Prior to that, the church was the oldest church in Westport.

Photograph of the Central Presbyterian Church at the southeast corner of Armour and Campbell in the early 1980s. The congregation, founded in 1866, has resided at this location since 1921. The Wrennmoor apartment building, at 915 East Armour, can be seen standing to the east of the church. The building opened in 1927, but was condemned after multiple arson fires in 1988. It was demolished in 1995.

Photograph of the front stonework, inscribed by the architectural firm Wilder & Wight which designed the church, dated 1907, on Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church at 3333 Broadway Boulevard. Construction on the church began in 1907; it was dedicated in 1912. It was placed on the Kansas City Register of Historic Places as Redemptorist Church Complex in 1987.

Photograph circa 1980s looking southeast, of the Benton Theater building that was at 3200 Independence Avenue, on the northeast corner of Independence Avenue and Benton Boulevard. It was built ca. 1911 and served as a church after the theater closed in 1952. It was demolished in 2015, after the roof collapsed in 2014. In the Scarritt Point neighborhood.

The church was dedicated in October 1896, and the congregation has been called the oldest in Kansas City, initially meeting in the home of William Chick in 1836, and the original building on the site constructed in 1853.
