Indicates population in 1887 as 160,000 and in 1880 as 57,000. Prominent landmarks, buildings, and businesses are numbered to correlate with list at the bottom. Portion of text on map reads: "The map reproduced above shows the city of 'Forty Years Ago' whose social and industrial activities are reflected daily in the familiar column under that caption in the Star's morning edition. Supplement to the Kansas City Commercial."
