Map of the state of Missouri contains a variety of geologic information, including predominant rocks and minerals at depths and locations across the state and a cross section of rock distribution and altitude of the state at Jefferson City. Also included in insets are locations of earthquake epicenters in southeast Missouri between 1973 and 1999, glacial drainage and valley patterns in northwest Missouri, and tectonic and volcanic or other impact deformations. Map includes county divisions, some locality names, and is subdivided into quadrangles used for geologic mapping by the state.

It also indicates Kansas City's expansion southward away from the Missouri River, the development of the stockyards industry in the West Bottoms and interconnectivity with the surrounding cities and towns that followed completion of the Hannibal Bridge in 1869.
