Portrait of Curtis S. Griffin, a Captain with the U. S. Army Air Corps. Griffin was born on April 11, 1920, in Kansas City, Missouri. Griffin entered the Army in 1940 and he was married on August 1, 1942, to Mary Jane Kunodle. Griffin was killed in action in July of 1943 when his plane was shot down over Naples, Italy. He was awarded three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Purple Heart.
