Portrait of Henry Burton Coker, a Staff Sargeant in the U. S. Army. Coker was born on October 20, 1912, in Warren Arkansas. In 1928 his family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he finished high school at Westport High School in 1929. After working for the Kansas City Fire Department for five years, he enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 27, 1942. He died on November 22, 1944, while in combat in Germany.
