Portrait of Jack W. Burnham, a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Airforce. Burnham was born on March 10, 1925, in Kansas City, Missouri, and enlisted in 1943. He was assigned as a gunner on a B-26 and while returning from his last mission, he was killed in action when debris pierced his plane. He was awarded the Air Medal, one silver and three bronze oakleaf clusters, six bronze stars, and the Purple Heart.
