Photograph circa 1980, looking east on Oak Ridge Drive. The white building most clearly visible is a small guesthouse on the grounds of the house to the left in the photo, 5410 Northeast Oak Ridge Drive, which was originally built around a log cabin in 1829 by James Compton. A Compton family member lived in the home until 1954, when it was sold to Louise Sandstrom who converted it into a restaurant. It opened in 1983 as Stroud's North, Oak Ridge Manor Restaurant ; Bar. The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and the Kansas City Register of Historic Places in 1980 as the Dr. James Compton Residence.
