Photograph of 500 Knickerbocker Place, part of the Knickerbocker Apartments on the north side of Knickerbocker Place, circa 1981. The block of apartments were razed in 1982 for a Kansas City Life Insurance Company expansion project. The twin building on the south side of the street was still standing as of 2018. Both were built circa 1910 and designed by architect Leon Grant Middaugh.

This block of rowhouse apartments was constructed in 1888, prior to the area's annexation by Kansas City, and were once known as the Hyde Park Apartments. The majority of buildings on the block were razed in the 1980s and 1990s for additional parking lots and to expand the Foreign Language Academy's campus, including the neighboring white building at the right edge of this image.

Photograph of apartment buildings at the southeast corner of 40th and Walnut Streets, including Merton Hall at 101 East 40th Street, circa 1980. Merton Hall, and the Elmore Apartments building to the east, are eight-plex Kansas City Colonnade buildings, with columned porches at their fronts, built in the early 1920s. Merton Hall suffered a major fire in April 1983, and was torn down a week later. The others buildings in view in the image were later also demolished and the property used by the neighboring St. Paul's Episcopal Church as sports fields and gardens.

Photograph of a view of 34th Street looking east from Main Street circa 1980, including houses and commercial and apartment buildings. The area, south of Linwood Boulevard to 34th Terrace, between Main and Gillham, was deemed blighted and ridden with crime and drugs in the late 1980s, and this house, as well as other homes, apartments, and commercial buildings, were demolished in the early and mid-'90s as part of the so-called "Glover Plan" to be replaced by the Midtown Marketplace development, a large commercial development anchored by big box retailers Home Depot and Costco.

Photograph of houses at 1206 and 1212 East Armour Boulevard in the early 1980s. The house on the left, 1206 E. Armour, was built in 1904 and has been called the William F. Stine Residence after the original owner. The neighboring house, 1212 E. Armour, was also built in 1904 and has been called the John W. German Residence after its original owner. Both houses were later converted to multi-family residences, and the house at 1212 Armour became Fellowship House halfway house for men on parole or probation in 1980. To their west, at the corner of Armour and Tracy in the early 1980s, the Armour Plaza Apartments building is also pictured. The building was designed by Defoe and Besecke and opened in 1925. It was condemned after a fire in 1985 and demolished in 1995.
