The show of force was in defiance of a new Kansas law that outlawed the right to strike. There were up to as many as 6,000 women who participated and many were recent immigrants from Europe.

She spoke at the dinner meeting of the Radio and Television Council of Greater Kansas City held November 29, 1955, at the Wishbone Restaurant located in Kansas City, Missouri at 4455 Main Street. In July of 1955 Bea took seventeen American broadcasters, writers, and telecasters from coast to coast to seven countries in Europe on the "Bea Johnson Radio and Television Tour." She also attended the "Big Four Conference" held in Geneva, Switzerland.
