The Melrose United Methodist Church located at 200 N. Bales in Kansas City closed its doors after 123 years. The church was built in 1926 when attendance was at more than 650, but as of recently the numbers were at about 10 to 15 people each week. Two ministries that were created by the church that still exist are the Della C. Lamb Neighborhood Center and the Spofford Home for Children.
