Street level view looking northwest at the southeast corner of 5th and Grand. The Centropolis, built in 1880, was the first hotel in Kansas City to install electric lighting. "As Kansas City moved southward and new hotels were built, the old Centropolis gradually faded. In later years only part of the imposing structure was used as a hotel" as shown in this photograph.
