Founded as a non-denominational religious institution in 1889 by Charles Fillmore and his wife Myrtle Fillmore in Kansas City at 11th and Main Streets before being moving in 1920 to the Lee's Summit, Missouri area with its own buildings constructed there starting in the 1920s and headquarters moved there in 1947.
