Photo and bio of Emma Lard Longan, or Emma Longan (1855-1924), "a lifelong champion of education and equal rights for women" and widow of George Longan, superintendent of Kansas City schools. Born in Liberty, Missouri, and founding the Longan Study Club in Kansas City in 1900 for women, residing at about 11th and Cherry Streets, then 1723 Michigan Avenue and 3735 Tracy Avenue. Also author of the acclaimed 1909 book "Parliamentary Law Made Easy" and "elected the first woman member of the upper house of the City Council in 1922."
