Open since 1900, the Folly Theater has assumed several names and identities over the decades, from a vaudeville, burlesque, and Shakespearean playhouse to an X-rated movie theater. Today, it serves as Kansas City’s oldest performing arts venue. Feature story on the fabrication factory of A. Zahner located in Kansas City. The company is a 109-year-old architectural metal firm and the current president/CEO is Bill Zahner. Zahner has recently done a piece of public art, a six foot sculpted hand made of smaller hands, donated to the Salvation Army. Some local examples that include Zahner work are the Kansas City Art Institute's Lawrence and Kristina Dodge Painting building at 44th and Oak, parking garage at 11th and Oak, Community of Christ Temple in Independence, Missouri, and the Sky Stations at Bartle Hall. Nationally they include the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., Chicago Millennium Park, and Tacoma Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington.
