[T]hese streamlined trolleys that were introduced in 1941. The last run by one of the cars was made on June 22, 1957, at the time they were replaced by busses. Chronology: (March 27, 1869) franchise for the first street car granted by the city council to the Kansas City & Westport Railroad Company; (1870) service started on the line, with each of the two cars drawn by two mules, from 4th and Main Streets to 16th and Grand Avenues, where the car barns and stables were located; (August 1897) last horse-drawn line ended on the Downtown Broadway line.
