He emigrated to Kansas City about 1881, "establishing his home on Flora street, near the old fair grounds," then "buil[ding] a frame dwelling at No. 2122 Penn avenue" and later still moving to 120 East 34th Street, retiring as a farmer.

Photo and autobiography of William Whitehead Taylor, or William Taylor, a retired brickmaker and building contractor. Born in England in 1844 and raised in Kansas City during the border warfare and Civil War periods (with description of many related incidents and early brickmaking locations) before building the following structures: "the first Packing House in Kansas City, several power houses for the Metropolitan St. Railway Company, W. J. Smith's warehouses and factory, the County Court house, County jail, Board of Trade, American Bank, Midland Hotel, Water-works Building, Heist Building and a great many dwelling houses."

Also husband of Mary Howe Slover, or Mary Slover, daughter of William Howe (a Santa Fe trader in Independence) and relative of "Colonel Davey, a noted Mexican trader of his day, who settled at Independence in 1836."
