Report about paintings in a cave, known as Picture Cave, in east-central Missouri. Archaeologists Jim Duncan and Carol Diaz-Granados believe them to as significant as the Cahokia Mounds in Illinois. Analysis of organic matter in the paint from the cave walls dated to 975 to 1025 A.D. One drawing was dated to 800 A.D. The paintings depict cultural beliefs of the Indians who created them.
