Description of his life and career, born in Kansas City and growing up in Mendon, Missouri, before becoming a football and track star at Central Missouri State Teachers College (later Central Missouri State University) in Warrensburg, Missouri, and pitching in the Major Leagues for the Chicago White Sox and other teams from the mid-1930s to mid-1940s. Afterwards a scout for the White Sox and namesake of Vernon Kennedy Field football stadium in Warrensburg.
