Brown & Son, contractors and builders of Kansas City," born in 1842 in Montreal, Canada and moving to Kansas City in 1852, starting in the construction business in Kansas City in the late 1850s, listing some of his projects Downtown and in the riverfront area, both business buildings and residences. "[A] greater percentage of the more prominent business blocks of Kansas City have been constructed by him, as a member of the firm of George L. Brown & Son, than by any other contractor" (page 261).
