This collection consists of records, correspondence, publications, and photographs from the Kansas City Posse of Westerners, the local chapter of a national social organization interested in preserving the history and heritage of the American West. The Kansas City Posse was formed in 1955 and the originally male-only membership included hobby scholars and prominent local historians like A. Theodore Brown and Kenneth LaBudde, PhD. The group held monthly dinner meetings that included speakers on a range of Western history and culture topics; membership dues also sponsored several publications that are referred to and/or present in the collection.

The Presidents and Past Presidents Club of Greater Kansas City was formed in 1917 with Mrs. George W. Fuller as the first president. Membership was composed entirely of presidents and past presidents of women's clubs in Kansas City. The group did civic philanthropic work in Kansas City. This compilation contains typescript pages and illustrations including photographs. It contains signed vignettes and reminiscences concerning Kansas City, Missouri, history.

SC98 Old Men's Association Records Finding Aid

The Old Men's Association was a social organization that met for 25 years in Kansas City beginning in 1893 up to 1918. Men had to be 60 years old or older in order to qualify for membership. Prominent names associated with the group include Alexander Holland, Judge Stephen Twiss, S. M. Philbrook, Frank Holsinger, Edward L. Dimmitt, Thomas Lewis, Judge W. R. Brown, W. F. Cloud, and many others. The collection contains the records of the Association and includes two record books (1893-1918) which contain the organization's minutes, membership rolls, financial accounts, newspaper clippings, and some ephemeral items. Programs included local speakers although Ezra Meeker of Oregon Trail fame also appeared at a meeting in 1908.
