Ruth played in an Oct. 13, 1924 benefit baseball game at Meuhlebach Field to raise money for Mercy Hospital. In 1931, he attended a "South Central Business Association luncheon" at Linwood and Harrison Streets, staying at the Hotel Muehlebach. An exhibition game at Muehlebach Field was cancelled due to rain.
