The Life of John Colter
-
Description
-
As the title indicates, this article is about the life of John Colter, a member of the Corps of Discovery or the Lewis and Clark Expdition. Colter, though, was better known for his exploits in the West after leaving the Corps five weeks before the Corps returned to St. Louis. On the map produced by William Clark after the return of the Corps of Discovery, Clark included information gathered from Zebulon Pike, George Drouillard, and Colter. Colter's 1807 route is marked with a dotted line on Clark's 1810 map that was published in 1814.
