-
Description
-
Article about Rockhill Tennis Club's departure from 4520 Kenwood Avenue also tells about the history of the Club and building. At its previous location, 48th and Oak, the Club was host to the 1928 Davis Cup and tournaments that attracted many of the biggest tennis stars of its day. Neighbors fought the move to Kenwood in 1955 but opposed its ouster by the Nelson-Atkins Museum. The Club has purchased the former Nelly Don home but has met opposition from neighbors in the Crestwood area.

Country Club in a Legal Battle
-
Description
-
Hillcrest Country Club, founded in 1916, has been "for nearly a century the home for Kansas Citians who felt out of place at the ritzier country clubs." Currently, "the old Hillcrest is dead, done in by hard times, hurt feelings, a bitter feud and a bag-full of lawsuits." David Francis, from a prominent Kansas City family, and Terry Clark, "a golf guy," became partners in 2006 to help the struggling country club. In fact, many members left, and now the partners are suing each other.
