Photograph of the Firestone Building at 2001 Grand Boulevard, the southwest corner of 20th and Grand, in the early 1980s. Built to serve as the Kansas City branch of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, the building was completed in 1916. At the time of the photograph, it still served as a Firestone outlet, with a retail operation on the first floor.

This specially-designed train travelled the country from 1947 to 1949 with displays of historically significant historical documents, including the Bill of Rights and the Emancipation Proclamation. The Freedom Train stopped in Kansas City June 6-7, 1948. Airplanes flying in formation are passing overhead.
