The Great Grasshopper Dinner in Warrensburg in the Spring of 1875
-
Description
-
A two-part article recounting the grasshopper invasion of 1873-75, especially its effect in Johnson County, Missouri. It includes short newspaper and diary accounts of the disastrous effects of the grasshopper plague. A grasshopper dinner was served at the Eads Hotel with Charles Riley, "the state-hopper-olo-gist" as host.
