Business started as a fruit stand near Union Depot in the 1890s before changing into a confectionery (and general store) and moving in 1914 to 12th and McGee Streets with an additional store at 8th and Grand Avenues. Becoming a drugstore during World War I due to a city law on business hours and becoming known for its catchy advertising slogans and cut-rate prices, etc., and opening several other store locations around town and in other cities before being sold to Skaggs drugstores in 1970 by Earl Katz (in turn bought out by Osco Drugs in 1984).
