The block on the west side of Main was razed in the early 1970s and now occupied by City Center Square.

The theater features a six-screen complex, a restaurant/lounge called the Marquee, digital posters and a flavor wall. The Mainstreet Theater originally opened in 1921 and became the RKO Missouri in 1949. Finally in 1960 it became the Empire Theater and eventually closed in 1985.
