WDAF-TV Offered For Sale
-
Description
-
Local Fox affiliated television station, Channel 4, WDAF-TV, is among nine others placed on the auction block by a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. It appears that potential buyers include private equity firms. The stations together are expected to be worth about $1.5 billion. WDAF began in 1949 and was the first television station in Kansas City. It was owned by the Kansas City Star Company and sold in 1957 because of an anti-trust suit against the newspaper. "Previous owners over the years were Transcontinent Broadcasting, Taft Broadcasting, Great American Communications and, in 1994, New World Communications." Includes a picture of the station.
