Photographs and article about area homes designed by Mary Rockwell Hook. After training at the Art Institute in Chicago and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Hook returned to Kansas City and worked with the firm Howe, Hoit & Cutler. She designed houses for lots in the new J. C. Nichols development. In 1908 she built her first house in Kansas City, "a small bungalow at 53rd Terrace and Brookside Boulevard."
