Photograph of the Thomas Carlyle Apartments building at 700 Ward Parkway circa 1990. Construction began on the building, designed by local architect Nelle E. Peters, in 1928. It belonged to a complex of buildings called the Poet Apartment Buildings, consisting of seven residential buildings named after literary figures including Carlyle, Mark Twain and Robert Louis Stevenson.

View looking north of the Montrose building at the corner of Main and 40th streets. The road on the right hand side of the image is Central Street.The building was built in 1923, was also known as the Ten-Forty Apartments, and was demolished in early 1998 and the site used for a parking lot. Cars parked along Central Street can be seen. A pedestrian walking on 40th Street is in view.
