Brief biography and memoir of Dr. Forrest C. (Phog) Allen and his wife, Bess Milton Allen. A certified osteopath, Phog Allen served as the men's head basketball coach at the University of Kansas from 1907-1909 and 1919-1956. He is credited with helping introduce basketball as an Olympic sport in 1936 as well as the implementation of the NCAA Tournament in 1939. Authored by nephew Milton Forrest Hughes, the biography contains numerous family stories and anecdotes about Allen and Bess, his wife of 62 years.
