Illustrated map and article about the 1839 Honey War between southern Iowans and northern Missourians, eventually resulting in 1848 in the modern state boundary between Iowa and Missouri. Dispute over strip of land between Iowa Territory and the state of Missouri with its trees cut for honey (principal source of food sweetening then) and involving Missouri Governor Lilburn Boggs (formerly of Jackson County) leading a group of militia but never engaging in battle.
