Peking Chinese Restaurant appears in the right side of the photo, located at 3609 Broadway Boulevard. At the time of the photograph, 3601 Broadway Boulevard (furthest north, on the block, across from the Ambassador Hotel) was unoccupied but as of 2018, a restaurant, Krokstrom Klubb, resides there. Also shown in the photo is Nabil's Mediterranean Cuisine at 3605 Broadway and Hot Rocks Lounge at 3607 Broadway Boulevard. This block of buildings was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as part of the Ambassador Hotel Historic District and then, added to the Kansas City Register of Historic Places in 1984. Located in the Hanover Place neighborhood.

The restaurant and bar opened in 1975 in the building that was the former Doerschuk pharmacy. An establishment called the Old Stanley opened in 1987 under new ownership in the space after the New Stanley closed in 1985.

Photograph of the Southwell Building at the intersection of Main Street and Westport Road, in the late 1970s. The building was designed by architects McKecknie and Trask and opened in 1929. A real estate sign hangs in the window of the storefront at 3935 Main, which was recently occupied by Howard E. Thruman Institutional Church. The Shape Shop and Love Records & Tapes are other ground-floor tenants, with Harling's Upstairs Bar and Grill occupying the second floor. Moten's Shoe Repair occupies the neighboring building to the north. Signs for Clint's Books and Bell Restaurant can be seen on the building to the south.

Virgil's Cafe, which opened in 1944, World Spirits liquor store, and Loma's Jewelry occupy the ground-level storefronts. The building was destroyed by fire on November 7, 1990, and was replaced by a one-story commercial strip and parking lot.
