Earlier sections of the school were built in 1890 and 1906, but later demolished, and an addition was made to the west side of the pictured building in 1960. The school was named for Reverend Nathan Scarritt, an early local minister and resident, and closed as part of a school district consolidation initiative in 2010.

Photograph of the west side of the Thacher School at 5008 Independence Avenue in the 1980s. Designed by Charles A. Smith, the school was named for Major Luin E. Thacher, an early member of the school board, and opened in December 1900. The school closed in 2009 and was demolished in 2015 to repurpose the land for sports fields for the neighboring Northeast Middle and High School.

The Webster School building was constructed in 1885 and operated as a school from that time until 1932. From 1932 until 1977 the building housed a variety of businesses and vocational schools. At the time of the photograph, the building was vacant and was planned to undergo a major renovation. The Davidson and Vitagraph Film Exchange buildings and other commercial buildings can be seen in the background of the image.

The building, as Loretto Academy, was built as a Catholic boarding and day school by the Sisters of Loretto order of nuns and dedicated in 1904. The building was sold to Calvary Bible College in 1966, and they operated in the location until 1982. The photograph shows the building surrounded by chainlink fencing.

Photograph of the Horace Mann School at 39th and Euclid Streets circa 1980. The building was designed by architect Charles A. Smith and completed in 1904. In a state of disrepair, it was closed by the school district in 1979 and placed for sale the following year. It operated as Brown-Caldwell Christian School from the early 1980s until circa 2007, when it was purchased, with the intention of residential redevelopment, by the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Association. It was damaged in an arson fire in December 2011, leading to its demolition.

The new building, pictured, opened in 1955 but was closed by the school district due to low enrollment in 1976 as the surrounding area become primarily industrial. The building was sold circa 1981 for industrial/warehouse use.
