Biographical article about John Campbell (1820-1900) and his wife Charlotte Campbell (1832-1905), English immigrants to Kansas City in 1855. Description of his career as a real estate investor and freighter and especially their house at 3rd and Campbell Streets, "the first mansion built in Kansas City," built in 1860 on a big bluff, with illustrations. According to this article Charlotte Campbell died in 1905, but according to a Kansas City Star article from May 29, 1927, she died on June 6, 1907.
