The home, designed with the features of the Prairie Style of architecture, was built on land that made up part of the original Ward family farm. Former occupants of the home are described in the article. They include John and Florence Gallagher (as well as daughter Dorothy Gallagher, known for her work with the Mexican immigrant community in Kansas City), Leon and Penelope Smith, P. Stephen Harris and wife Judith Joyce, Stanley and Marguerite Garrity, the Neill Elliott family, William K. and Ann Poindexter, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Quinto, the Jerry Fogel family, the David G. Luttrell family, and Jeff and Teri Neustaedter.
