A High School That Works
-
Description
-
The class of 2010 will be the first graduating class from Cristo Rey Kansas City, a Catholic, college-prep high school. Students spend one day a week working primarily in a business and this helps to pay their tuition. "Cristo Rey students follow a strict dress code, both during classes and at their work-study job. The boys wear ties and button-down shirts, while the girls wear dress pants or skirts. Slacks are pressed and the boys sometimes wear coats if they desire." The school is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and it is the 12th school to join the Cristo Rey Network. The schools are designed for students with significant economic need.
